Call for Support:
An Urgent Appeal to Support the Goge Africa 25th Anniversary Festival: Celebrating Nigeria & Africa’s Cultural Pride and Empowering Our Future
As we approach the landmark 25th anniversary of Goge Africa, we stand at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history—a moment that calls for unity, action, and a shared commitment to the preservation and celebration of our rich cultural heritage. Since its inception in 1999, Goge Africa has been a torchbearer of African culture, a platform that has promoted Nigeria’s immense tourism potential to a global audience. Yet, despite 25 years of unwavering service to the arts, culture, and tourism industries, Goge Africa has never enjoyed the financial support from the Nigerian government—either at the federal or state level.
Goge Africa over the past 25 years have generated employment for more than 100,000 Nigerians, trained 1,750 youths in tourism under the #GogeAfricaFreeTourismTraining initiative, promoted the best image of Nigeria through our diverse cultures, tourism potential, and investment opportunities. We have served and given our all to our country and the continent consistently for 25years.
We appeal passionately to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu the host of Goge Africa from its inception in 1999 till date, and all Nigerians—especially our business leaders, philanthropists, and members of the public—to rally in support of Goge Africa’s 25th anniversary festival. This is more than just an event; it is a celebration of who we are as a people, and a reflection of Nigeria’s boundless potential and the resilient spirit of the private sector in Nigeria. By supporting this festival, you are investing in our cultural identity, our economy, and the future of our youth.
The Goge Africa Festival: A Driver of Economic Growth and Cultural Pride
The Goge Africa Festival represents more than entertainment—it is a force for economic empowerment and national pride, creating thousands of jobs and stimulating our local and national economies. Just like Face of Goge Africa FOGA held in March 23, this year, the Goge Africa Festival will generate employment for over 10,000 youths including the creative industry, fashion designers, artisans, hundreds of technical crew members, health practitioners, food vendors, media/content creators and many others. From logistics to security, transportation to catering, this festival brings direct benefits to industries across the board.
At a time when Nigeria is seeking ways to diversify its economy and create more jobs for our growing population, Goge Africa offers a proven model for how arts and culture can be a driver of sustainable economic development. By empowering over 10,000 youths directly, and engaging millions more online, Goge Africa serves as a beacon of hope for our youth, many of whom have been disillusioned by the lack of opportunities at home. This festival keeps their dreams alive, showing them that there is a future for them here in Nigeria.
With over 20,000 attendees the Goge Africa Festival is a massive platform for local and international investment, bringing more than 100 businesses—from small vendors to large corporations—into the fold. This not only stimulates our economy but also positions Lagos as a leading hub for African arts and culture. Over 40 million viewers across countries are set tune in to watch this festival and bear witness to the incredible cultural diversity and richness of Nigeria and Africa projecting our image far beyond our borders.
Why Your Support is Crucial Now
To deliver a festival of this magnitude, significant financial resources are needed. While partnerships have been formed with key organizations like Providus Bank, Nigerian Breweries, Ibom Air, amongst others and several government agencies, most of these collaborations have been non-financial, focusing on social development. But to make this anniversary event truly spectacular, we need substantial financial backing to cover the enormous costs associated with staging a world-class event.
By investing in the Goge Africa Festival, the Nigerian government can play a critical role in fostering youth empowerment, creating jobs, and enhancing national pride. This is also a chance for wealthy individuals, businesses, and organizations to give back to their communities by supporting a cause that uplifts us all.
We say a big thank you to Mr. Johnson Ibidapo-Obe the CEO of TMCSL our event organisers for all the support.
