Taking place on the 26th and 27th of October 2024, at the iconic Onikan Stadium, Lagos, this cultural extravaganza promises to be a Symphony of Cultures with over 25 countries represented. The festival is expected to draw a vibrant crowd of *over 20,000 attendees* over two days.
The Goge Africa Festival will bring together a distinguished guest list, including Nigeria’s Federal Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy and the Federal Minister of Tourism, alongside Ambassadors from various nations, traditional rulers, and influential figures from the creative, tourism, and business sectors. It is poised to be one of the largest gatherings of cultural stakeholders, highlighting the richness of Africa’s diversity and Nigeria’s key role in its preservation and promotion.
Highlights of the Event:
Symphony of Cultures: A vibrant celebration of cultural heritage, featuring performances, exhibitions, and collaborations from over 25 countries and communities. The Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilisation (CBAAC) will host an exhibition titled “Our Shared Heritage”, showcasing the richness of our shared history and culture. Additionally, Roots Runway will unveil a new collection, Itinochi, in support of widows.
Prepare to be amazed by the grand appearance of Ijele, the largest masquerade in Africa, and immerse yourself in a captivating showcase of northern traditions proudly presented by the Arewa community in Lagos. While the “Maidens of the South” will be out to thrill the audience. And if you listen, you may be able to interpret the message from “The Talking Drum” by the ultimate African drummer! The event will also provide an exclusive opportunity to experience the vibrant royalty of the African continent.
Expect mesmerizing cultural dance presentations and competitions, performances by select African masquerades, and don’t miss Izaga, an iconic figure sure to captivate audiences! Festival-goers will also enjoy an eclectic mix of African and Nigerian music genres, masterfully curated by our special DJs to add a unique twist to the event.
For food lovers, our grand *food court* will feature over 100 vendors and exhibitors offering a diverse range of goods and services, including a thrilling soup competition—the ultimate spice for our revellers!
While notable organizations, cultural custodians and personalities in the creative sector shall be receiving the prestigious GOGE AFRICA AWARD.

As we approach the landmark 25th anniversary of Goge Africa, we stand at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history—a moment that calls for unity, action, and a shared commitment to the preservation and celebration of our rich cultural heritage. Since its inception in 1999, Goge Africa has been a torchbearer of African culture, a platform that has promoted Nigeria’s immense tourism potential to a global audience. Yet, despite 25 years of unwavering service to the arts, culture, and tourism industries, Goge Africa has never enjoyed the financial support from the Nigerian government—either at the federal or state level.
Goge Africa over the past 25 years have generated employment for more than 100,000 Nigerians, trained 1,750 youths in tourism under the #GogeAfricaFreeTourismTraining initiative, promoted the best image of Nigeria through our diverse cultures, tourism potential, and investment opportunities. We have served and given our all to our country and the continent consistently for 25years.
We appeal passionately to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu the host of Goge Africa from its inception in 1999 till date, and all Nigerians—especially our business leaders, philanthropists, and members of the public—to rally in support of Goge Africa’s 25th anniversary festival. This is more than just an event; it is a celebration of who we are as a people, and a reflection of Nigeria’s boundless potential and the resilient spirit of the private sector in Nigeria.
